Masyarakat Langkat & Binjai, di Sumatera Utara, biasa mandi Etapangir di sungai Bahorok di desa Batu Mandi. "Masyarakat yang hendak melakukan Etapangir hanya perlu menyiapkan Serai, Pandan dan Limau atau jeruk purut sebagai syarat. Jeruk pangir itu nantinya digunakan untuk mandi di sungai. Namun sekarang sudah disediakan Sabun yg terbuat dari Serai & tanaman Herbal lainnya di Gallery Etalauser. Tradisi Etapangir di desa Batu Mandi juga diwarnai dengan makan bersama. Masyarakat nantinya akan makan bersama-sama di area pelaksanaan tradisi Etapangir. If going to the jungle, meet up with fellow travellers and find a guide. All licensed guides have photo permits. Ask to see them before booking a trek. Jungle Gate Lodge have good reputations for solo travellers. Anybody who experiences sexual harassment in any form in Bukit Lawang should report the incident immediately to the Guides Association Office in the entrance to the village and to the head ranger at the national park office. Also make sure you get a photo of the person/guide as well.
