Travellers with Visa ATM cards should bring cash with them to Bukit Lawang. While there is a Mastercard ATM machine 7 km from town, the nearest Visa ATM is 60 km away in Binjai. If you run out of money, the 4 hour roundtrip motorbike ride will set you back 200,000 - 400,000 rupiah.
